Campogrande is regarded as one of the most interesting Italian
composers of the young generation".
Nicola Campogrande, born in Turin in 1969, is regarded as “one of the most interesting italian composers of the young generation” (Amazon.com).
After graduating in the Conservatories of Milan and Paris, he started developing a personal style that today is considered absolutely original and able to connect the past and the present in a fascinating new path.
Playing his scores, musicians like Gauthier Capuçon, Mario Brunello, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Alexander Lonquich, Paul Daniel, Anna Kravtchenko or the Quartetto del Teatro alla Scala appreciated the freshness and the vitality of his music but also his ability to touch the heart of the listeners.
A musical theatre enthusiast, he wrote the operas Opera italiana, Macchinario, Lego and Alianti, bringing together the most interesting experiences coming from old avantgardes and some atmospheres related to jazz and rock. He also developed a rich orchestral and chamber catalogue.
His music is actually recorded on 29 cds (from DECCA to independent labels) and is published by Universal Ricordi, by Casa Musicale Sonzogno and by RaiTrade.
His soundtracks are published by Cam-Universal.
With more than 60 performances every year, Nicola Campogrande’s music is performed in the most important halls of many countries (from the Royal Albert Hall and the Wigmore Hall of London to the Teatro alla Scala, from the Werner Hall in Cincinnati or the Unesco Auditorium in Paris to the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the Rudolfinum in Prague or the Lingotto in Turin).
He’s also the artistic director of the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino and he founded the “Cambi di Stagione” International Chamber Music Festival in Monforte d’Alba.
Nicola Campogrande is one of the hosts of the live radio show “Radio3 Suite” on the national italian RAI Radio3.
